|
Part one of the two-movie update is here as our new flick Demon Alcohol hits your computer screen with a vengeance. See the website news below for some cool info and media from the film, but not before you WATCH THE WHOLE THING RIGHT NOW. C'mon, it's three and a half minutes of your life, what have you got to lose? Seriously.
Part two of the update is Three Conversations which we're proud to say is entirely in the can and will be ready for your eyeballs in a matter of days. Check back soon, but until then, look below to read Logan's account of the last day of shooting.

WEBSITE NEWS - Dec. 16, 2004 - Tell Your Children
|
Screen captures, sound clips, and behind the scenes info for our new flick Demon Alcohol await your perusal. Check back soon when we'll have more trivia for you about the shooting and writing of the project which, in case you didn't know, you can view in its entirety right here.
Also, Logan has posted his final entry in Logan's Film Journals, which recounts the last day of shooting on our upcoming film Three Conversations on the Value of Pop Culture in a Young Adult Society. It was both fun and painful, as you'll see by the pictures. Ryan will be taking over the journal to detail the editing of the project right up until it's completed and ready for you to download. |
COMPANY NEWS - Dec. 9, 2004 - Borrowed Boom Mic Makes Production Photos Cooler; Films Still Crap
|
If you haven't been keeping up with the site lately, here's a quick recap: Lazy Bear's got two new films in the works. There's the one we announced November 10, and then a little mini-project we announced on the web board sometime later. It took us a little longer than we thought to get shooting started on the November 10 one. Conversely, the mini-project was filmed in one day but crazy computer problems have slowed down editing. Both films will be ready for your online consumption soon, but since we're tired of being all mysterious, we're announcing the titles. The mini-project has been dubbed Demon Alcohol and the November 10 project is called Three Conversations on the Value of Pop Culture in a Young Adult Society.
Three Conversations began shooting Wednesday at noon. For tons of behind the scenes info, exclusive pics, and the funniest video on our site, check Logan's Film Journal over at the web board which starts here and continues here. The film stars a cast of newcomers including board member Stephanie Walker (famous for naming Dr. Love Strikes Out), Dan Hooper (famous for directing McDoomed, the darling of the Firefly Film Fest), and Roseanna Welch (famous for proving Logan isn't gay). On the crew we've got Zach Ames (Osquip to our board members) handling audio for us. When Logan penned the script a year ago, it was meant to be the first Lazy Bear film that he and Ryan didn't appear in, but upon re-reading it, they vainly cast themselves anyway. You're stuck with 'em folks!
Summer Sedman (famous for actually requesting to be in one of our films, a rare occurrence) was all set to play Dan's girlfriend, but unfortunately was held up by an exam that ran over. A little last-minute casting was in order, and Jonathan Durnell (famous for being incredibly cool and helpful, memorizing his lines in like ten minutes, and just being an all around awesome, awesome guy) stepped into the role. Yes, that means that Jon and Dan form Lazy Bear's first gay couple. There they are in that picture up there. Awwww. You could just eat 'em up, they're so cute! We think it was all very tasteful, but if you'd like to send us hate mail in advance, we welcome it.
Demon Alcohol was produced by, as Logan puts it, "the same crew and equipment that brought you the wildly acclaimed The Package", meaning it was just he and Ryan. This one's so short we can't even tease it without giving it away, but we can say this: If you like Lazy Bear and you like drinking, you'll love this film. Those aforementioned crazy computer problems have delayed this project (I mean just look at that crappy screen shot to the right, that's the best we can show you right now), but that should be resolved soon.
Expect these two classics to join together to form a kick-ass mega-two-movie-update in the next couple of weeks! Until then, enjoy this quote from the Three Conversations script:
Different Man: Well, you can shave a mustache about twenty different ways.
You sure can. You sure can.

WEBSITE NEWS - Dec. 9, 2004 - Don't Read This Crap! Read the Company News! God!
|
It's mainly company news this time, but please don't miss Logan's Film Journal over at the web board which starts here and continues here. It details the exciting process of shooting our new film Three Conversations on the Value of Pop Culture in a Young Adult Society with plenty of pictures so the stupid can enjoy it too! Oh also, we threw up an animated Sheplar pic over at the Logan's Talent Agency Image Gallery! Sweet!

COMPANY NEWS - Nov. 10, 2004 - World Weeps as Lazy Bear Plots New Films
|
Nothing earth-shattering to announce in company news, except the EARTH-SHATTERING ANNOUNCEMENT that we've got a new short film in the works! We don't dare spoil the hilarious details for you at this early stage, but we will tease you with a few of the characters' names: Man, Different Man, Another Man. And if that's not exciting enough, there are women too! We'll leave you to guess their names. Filming is set to begin in a few weeks, with the final product completed a few weeks after that. More updates as they arise. Argue about what we may be up to on the board. And of course, there's still our other awesome project, Blender Agenda: The Feature Film which is on track to begin principle photography this X-mas. And remember, director Seth Worley is doing cinematography for us. Will the camera angles be better than the jokes? Stay tuned.

WEBSITE NEWS - Nov. 10, 2004 - Images Captured from Lazy Bear Films, Logan and Ryan Believe Souls Stolen
|
First up, we've got some brand new pics from two of our classic (old) films, Logan and Ryan's Wacky Comedy Hour and Logan's Talent Agency. At last, Lazy Bear legend, Sid Sheplar can be seen on this site in all his glisteny, foreign glory. New pics from Comedy Hour here (scroll to the bottom). New pics from Talent Agency here. Here's a particularly good one for your desktop.
We've also got the conclusion to J'onn McAllegory's autobiographical account of his time spent as our secretary, Burnin’ Down Da House: My Week with the Lazy Bear. This installment has more lying, more drugs, and more side-splitting social satire than the last. It's a must-read. If you missed the first part, check here. Even must-readier is a new guest Lazytorial by Lazy Bear's resident lady of the evening Wanda Cumgetsome. Wanda finally gets to the bottom of of the issue that's been plaguing our inbox for as long as we can remember: Logan and Ryan: Flaming Homosexuals or Skanky Sluts? You can try to NOT read it, but we doubt you'll succeed.
Over in the Clips section, we've got a short but oh-so-sweet new clip from Blender Agenda in celebration of the film's fourth anniversary. It's the one where the good Dr. Logan finishes inspecting the house, and he SAYS everything's cool, but then--oh man, don't let us ruin it for you. At less than a megabyte, it's definitely worth downloading for yourself.
Finally, we've added an entry to the Awards and Accolades page denoting our inclusion in the FireFly Film Fest. With FireFly organizer Stephanie Bates's approval, we made this indie-looking film fest logo to make it look more official. Creating a false sense of professionalism and accomplishment? It must be Lazy Bear Productions!

COMPANY NEWS - Oct. 6, 2004 - A Roomful of Strangers Validates Our Existence!
|
Happy Spooky Month, everyone. How about some pipin' hot updates?
The FireFly Film Fest was awesome. The Package played to a large (by our standards) audience of Chattanooga film lovers. It was the first time we had the opportunity to see one of our films with a crowd full of people who weren't obligated to be polite, and it went really well. We got laughs at most of the right places, and, after the showing, a few people were kind enough to seek us out and compliment us on the flick. Read some of their comments here. This was an especially big honor considering the caliber of films that night. "Peter's Lunch" by Przemyslaw Bankiewicz, "A Handful of On the Other Hand" by Bill Colrus, "Sinners and You" by Chris Bookless, and "Hey Ladies!" by Chris Willis were just some of the best. "McDoomed" by Dan Hooper belongs in that list as well, but since Ryan was on the crew, it'd be a bit biased of us to say that, wouldn't it? Good thing we didn't. Read more about the event and post your rambling comments in this thread of the web board. If you couldn't make it, visit the sites we linked and check out those films. And, as always, you can see The Package right here.
Speaking of movies, as we are want to do, remember indie film dude Seth Worley? You know, the guy who, along with Jonathan Barrickman, made "It's Halloween Mr. Madison!", the film that aired Halloween 2000 as part of the same spooky marathon in which the original Blender Agenda debuted? Well, you'll never guess what. ...No...no...no, look you'll never get it. He's agreed to help us out with our big budget remake of Blender Agenda by serving as director of photography! Seth will be handling the camerawork, freeing Logan and Ryan up to appear on screen at the same time without the aid of a tripod or someone they forced into holding the camera at the last second. Plus he's tall as all hell. Crane shots, anyone? As more BA news develops, it'll show up on the Latest Updates board.
Last, but certainly not least, Lazy Bear Player David Chilton is (wait for it) engaged! Yes, we were just as surprised as you. Even wackier, Logan and Ryan have been asked to serve as groomsmen. We wish David and his fiancee Randi the best. To send them your regards, or to just make fun of them like we've been doing, check out this thread on the board. Even the most sacred of events can be exploited to promote the Bear.
Oh, hey, looking for a Halloween costume? Here's a little shop we recommend.

WEBSITE NEWS - Oct. 6, 2004 - New Lazytorials Tell It Like It Probably Isn't |
Two new articles await you in Claw Marks. First we've got Nathaniel Hawthorne’s "My Kinsman, Major Molineux" (abridged) in which Logan spins a Pythonesque yarn of delightful absurdity. With the uploading of this story, Lazy Bear will finally achieve its most vital goal of appearing in the Google search results for the phrase "pack of wild nomad puppies". Then we've got an exclusive excerpt from J'onn McAllegory's upcoming tell-all book Burnin’ Down Da House: My Week with the Lazy Bear. As many of you know, J'onn was our secretary for about a week. It didn't end well. However, our lawyers have informed us that it would be in our best interest to comply with the judge's ruling and promote the book. This is a two-parter, so check back for the concluding installment soon.
To your right, below the menu, you'll now notice a li'l ad box that hypes different sections of the site. We're hoping this will help visitors find their way quickly to our coolest content. Is it annoying? Distracting? Let us know. Don't worry, we're only using the box for our own stuff. We haven't sold out yet, but if anyone wants to make us an offer, we're listening.
Over in the links section, we've got a nod to our new partner in cinematic crime, Seth Worley as well as to our friends at FireFly. Plus those broken eCards are totally working now, so send one to that weird aunt who thinks your gay. |

Perfect for dorm walls, suitable for framing, great as a last
minute anniversary present. Of course there are plenty of

NEWS - July 18,
2004 - Players Tell All, Get Moodier Pics |
 If
your a frequent poster on our web board, then you're one of
these two gals. If you just lurk without posting than you've
no doubt read their words. Well, get ready to read some more
because they've updated their tell-all biographies over on
our Players page. They've also
got new mug shots, Olivia going with the moody punk rock thing,
while Ashley opts to disguise herself as Gilda Radner. In
other news, after I was done with this update, there was a
lot of white space. So in honor of Ashley and Olivia, here's
a filler picture of Christian Bale.

COMPANY
NEWS - May
5, 2004 - Back from
the Abyss! And with Presents! |
Where the hell have
we been? It's a question that you're no doubt asking yourself
since we've been offline for over six months. How could
we leave you, our loyal fans, without your steady supply
of top notch comedy? It's a bitch, we know, but trust us,
we had it worse. Basically, we got screwed and lost control
of the site. Then we had to jump through several hoops to
make our triumphant return. It's all recounted in a new
Lazytorial by Ryan entitled, appropriately, How
to Get Screwed. If you have a website or any other project
you want to maintain creative control over, it's worth a
read. But that's only the first in a long list of updates
we've got for you to celebrate our relaunch.
The
biggest news is The Package.
Yes, while you were struggling to survive half a year of
your dull existence without us, we were off making you a
brand new film! Our present to you. Not only have some told
us that this is our best work to date, but it's also the
first to be available
in its entirety right here on this website!
In case you're just skimming, let us reiterate that:
YOU CAN SEE THE WHOLE MOVIE JUST BY CLICKING HERE.
It's about 13 minutes long and 26 MB in size, which may
be a bit of strain on you dial-up users, but shouldn't be
a problem for our broadband fans. Of course, this is just
the web version and we've tried to keep the file size down,
so the picture and sound aren't great. Perhaps in the future,
we'll come up with a way to bring you the DV quality version.
After you watch the new flick, read all about its creation
and download sounds and screencaps here.
Oh,
and hey, remember Blender Agenda? You know, this
thing? Well if the 30 minute short rocked your socks,
wait until you see the feature-length
remake. That's right, we've been toying with the idea
of a sequel for quite some time, but have now decided on
a big-budget (well, big for us anyway) remake of the original.
This new version will feature such exciting additions as
more characters, more effects, more plot twists, and yes,
a script! Will wonders never cease? Expect the same story
with even more hilarity in this, our longest fully-produced
film. Shooting begins this summer. How can you get the latest
updates on our progress? Check out the website news below
for the answer...
Not to distract you
from all that great stuff, but we've also got a new story
by Logan entitled Dinner
Date. Watch out, you might actually have to know something
about literature to get anything out of it. Books? We've...heard
of them... The story's
also the first in our new series: "Tails of the Lazy
Bear". More about that below.

WEBSITE
NEWS - May 5, 2004
- Holy Mother of Chevy Chase That's a Lot of New Crap! |
So, pretty
impressive updates up there in the company news, right? Well,
that's nothing compared to the slew of site-related updates
we've got for you. The most obvious is our much improved flash
intro. If you missed it on your way in, see it here.
If you need the flash plugin, get it from our good friends
at Macromedia.
To your left, you'll notice our
slimmer, bluer menu buttons. Place your mouse over them to
see them magically pop into full color! Well, it impresses
us anyway. If your a big enough web nerd to have gotten a
kick out of that, then maybe you've already noticed that the
Lazy Bear logo and title image at the top of each page have
been improved and no longer show any jpeg artifacts! Can we
get a "Hell yeah!"? Yeah, we didn't think so.
As
we mentioned above, we're now placing story-type articles
under the banner "Tails
of the Lazy Bear".
This series has been combined with the Lazytorials to create
Claw Marks, the new catchall
section for our written articles. A few of the old Lazytorials
have been reclassified as Tails, so now's the perfect time
to peruse the archive and catch
up on any you've missed as well as the two new additions:
Dinner Date and How
to Get Screwed.
Want to know how far along we are on our latest film? How
about exclusive behind-the-scenes pics and stories, how does
that strike you? Well, we're going to go ahead and assume
you said "It strikes me quite well and please go on!"
and recommend the Lazy
Bear Film Journals. It's a new section on our web
board where Logan, Ryan, and maybe even a few surprise
guest Lazy Bear Players will keep you totally in the know
on stuff like the new Blender
Agenda. You don't have to be a member of the board to
read, but why the hell wouldn't you want to be?
More
odds and ends: Since we've now got some video to show off,
the Film Clips section is finally
up. It's been "coming soon" for about four years
now, so for those of you who've been waiting, there ya go.
Expect clips from our other films
to be added...um...soon! We've got a few new band names on
the Public Domain Band Names List.
The Radio
Hour is still on hiatus, but you can now visit
its page to see the two ads Logan and Ryan hung around
their dorm building to advertise it. Remember that
mockumentary we never did, The Life and Times of Dr. Logan?
Of course you don't, we never did it. But if you're curious,
there are a few new tidbits about it here.
We're glad you visit our site and we hope it's
one of your favorites. If Lazy Bear is your thing, you might
also dig our founders' favorite online spots. Take a look
at Logan and Ryan's top ten lists in the links
section. On the same page is our new link banner. Paste it
into your website and help ours! Will we link you in return?
There's only one way to find out......that we won't. A few
new filmmaking links too.
Let's
see what else we got here... Ah yes, like three years ago
Logan and Ryan took all of the sound clips from this site,
a bunch of exclusive commentary about their films, and three
rockin' songs, and jammed them onto one thumbs-up-inducing
CD called www.lazybearproductions.com: The Album.
It was never released due to copyright issues with some of
the music, but you can now read all about it here.
Wondering how the company got started? Want
to know who our creative influences are? Think we're gay?
Check out the massive update to the F.A.Q.
for all the answers.
Some of you have asked us why the Ryan character
got an entry on the Cheat Sheet
but the Logan character didn't. Simply put, since Logan (the
actor) more often spends his screen time portraying everyone's
favorite loveable doctor of loooooove, we don't see as much
of just plain Logan. But with the release of The
Package, it seemed time to finally give him his due. So
learn all about our scruffy friend right
here.
One more thing and we'll let you go. The What's
New? archives are now easier to navigate. But why should
you care? Don't live in the past. |
