AWARDS AND ACCOLADES

.

  • Oct. 1, 2004 - The Package was shown to a reasonable amount of audience approval at the 2004 FireFly Film Festival. We got laughs at most of the right places, and, after the showing, a few people were kind enough to seek us out and compliment us on the flick, the most credible of whom are quoted below. Ryan also had the pleasure of emceeing the event.

HERE'S WHAT THE CRITICS SAY ABOUT LAZY BEAR PRODUCTIONS!

  • "...the two funniest filmmakers from Chattanooga you've never heard of."
  • "While several pretentious out-of-town films with big budgets and bad scripts had failed to move an increasingly bored crowd at last October’s Firefly Film Festival, The Package stood out amongst a small group of entertaining local films which were made on a shoestring and rescued the evening for those in attendance."
  • "...It is this infectiously fresh, circular humor that is Lazy Bear’s trademark and what separates them from other independent filmmakers."
  • "DiGiorgi and Lee are serious students of comedy."
  • [About Demon Alcohol:] "This quick, punchy film is filled with great performances by both actors and, like The Package, deftly parodies the genre they use to present their humor. Despite being one of their shortest works, Demon Alcohol is also one of their tightest, containing some of their best writing to date."

--The Pulse

  • "'Love the web site. It's a real thrill to be mentioned in the same breath as Top Secret.
  • "Whenever I want someone to turn one of my novels into a major film, I go to the Lazy Bear Players."
  • "Actually, everything I write is a rip-off of Dr. Logan's Day Out."

--Max Barry, author of Syrup

"Don't tell anybody I like you."

--Jordan Brady, film director, on Lazy Bear Productions Co-Founder Logan Lee

"I laughed my ASS off. And Jean laughed her ass off. So now there are two asses laying on the floor with no bodies attached."

--Stephanie Bates, creative director for the FireFly Film Festival, referring
to her's and festival coordinator Jean Marie Davis's reaction to The Package

  • "'The Package,' directed by Ryan DiGiorgi and Logan Lee, was probably my favorite [of the FireFly Film Festival]. It is hilarious, and the acting in it was fantastic."
  • "Their work is endlessly entertaining, and a simple visit to their website will bring a smile to even the chilliest of eskimos."
  • "You MUST, I repeat, MUST watch their short film entitled, The Package. It's a brilliant piece of infectiously absurdist humor."
  • "Lazy Bear is great...if you're a nerd who uses a Windows machine."
  • "Lazy Bear would be great if they were actually great. Macs rule!"
  • "Lazy Bear does not care about you."

--Bill Colrus, Editor of The Pulse

"I am constantly amazed at these guys' professionalism, drive, and intelligent writing."

--Chris Willis, Television Productions, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

"This is a very funny play, and it would no doubt be entertaining for an audience. The author has a unique and zany sense of humor. The play features a variety of amusing incidents and comic bits. It is, however, what it is--a comedy--and there's not much else in terms of deeper message. I found that the humor after a while grew a little old, and the ending for me was not entirely satisfying. By that I mean that the characters didn't seem to reach a change or resolution--they are just in jail rather than in their apartment."

--Dr. Roger Hall, Chair of Playwriting at The University of Kentucky regarding Cost of Living

  • "I like your choice of music, and your physical effects are right up there with the likes of Ghostbusters."
  • “Like the Nader Joke.”
  • “Funny how it gets pitch black when its daylight outside—trying to keep the lighting consistent is tough but try to watch for it.”
  • “Props to the Allan Smithee reference!”
  • “Love the MST3K shirt! : )”
  • “Nice opening title page.”
  • “Something wrong with tape.”

--Various judges at the 2001 Western Kentucky Film Festival regarding Blender Agenda

"Oh my gosh, that guy's funny."

-- Kristin Chambers regarding Logan in Blender Agenda

"Artistic? No. Kinda funny? Yes."

--Adam Wallace

"I love you to death, and what you do is just amazing and I believe it’s funny and it brings back a whole new twist to the idea of classic comedy and I love that."

--Alex Mishenko, webmaster of BearFan Web Page

.

"Lazy Bear greeting cards ? Pure magic. I loves it! I sent one to Denise Richards and she immediately fell in love and dumped Charlie Sheen for me. Well I think that's what this court order says anyway. Must be from the COURT OF LOVE!"

--Jonathan Barrickman, webmaster of Just Games Retro
